About the Education Fair

Student arena is the largest and most important educational fair and career event, organised for the young people, in Slovenia. This year will mark its 8th anniversary. The education fair will feature a number of interesting and insightful presentations and additional opportunities for networking and building relationships. The educational programme offered 107 workshops, lectures and round-table discussions, all of them taking place in lecture rooms divided into the following thematic blocks: Planet of Opportunities, Universe of Ideas, Ocean of Experiences and in interactive corners: European Avenue, Avenue of Creativity, Avenue of Knowledge, Avenue of Environment, Avenue of Fun.

Slovenia is the economic front-runner of the countries that joined the European Union in 2004 and was the first new member to adopt the euro as the country's only currency on 1 January 2007. Moreover, Slovenia will also be the first new member state to hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2008.

Slovenia's economy has started to grow more strongly in the last few years (5.2% in first 9 months of 2006, 4.0% in 2005, 4.4% in 2004, 4.8% 2007 estimate), after relatively slow growth in 2003 (2.7%). Overall, the country is on a sound economic footing.

About the Career Expo:

The Kariera was introduced in 2006 in the capital of the actual EU Presidency country, Ljubljana. Initially focused merely on the employment market, a survey stated visitors were strongly interested in educational programs abroad, mainly Undergraduate degrees, Masters, MBA and language courses. The Slovenian market, due to its size and historical background, offers little options to career oriented individuals looking for further formation opportunities. As a consequence, such turned themselves to the Western European countries in order to seek such knowledge.
